What Every Stoner Must Do Before They Die: The Ultimate Cannabis Bucket List

Look, none of us are getting out of this alive. Your lungs might tap out before your liver, or vice versa. The only real question is: did you actually live while you were here? Did you chase the kind of highs that make stories worth telling? Did you touch something bigger than your couch and your vape pen?

This is the stoner bucket list. Not the corporate “try a new strain” list. The real one. The one that makes your future self nod and say, “Yeah… we did that.”

We’re starting with the big one. The pilgrimage every serious stoner owes themselves.

1. Make the Pilgrimage to Amsterdam

This isn’t a vacation. This is a rite of passage.

You land in Schiphol, already buzzing. The air smells like rain and freedom. You drop your bag at some overpriced Airbnb near the center and immediately head to the first coffee shop that doesn’t look like it’s trying too hard. You order a joint and a coffee like it’s church. Because in that moment, it is.

You’ll spend your first day getting gloriously, responsibly lost. You’ll walk the canals at golden hour with a joint in one hand and a stroopwafel in the other. You’ll accidentally end up in the Red Light District at 2 a.m. because the universe has a sense of humor, and you’ll stand there under the neon like you’re in a movie you didn’t know you were starring in.

Pro tips from people who’ve done it right:

  • Hit Dampkring or Paradiso early. The good ones get busy.
  • Try a space cake on day two, not day one. Trust me.
  • Do the canal boat tour high. It’s mandatory. The reflections on the water hit different.
  • Go to the Hash, Marijuana & Hemp Museum — it’s actually educational and weirdly moving.
  • Walk the Red Light District once during the day and once at night. Different worlds.
  • Talk to locals. They’re used to us. Most of them are cool as hell.

The real magic isn’t just the weed (though it’s world-class). It’s the feeling that for once, the world isn’t side-eyeing you for wanting to get high. You’re not hiding in a parking lot or pretending your vape is a nicotine device. You’re in public. You’re normal. You’re free.

That feeling alone is worth the flight.

You’ll come home different. Not “changed forever” different. Just… lighter. Like you finally checked off the one trip every stoner is supposed to make before the reaper starts sending reminders.

2. Hotbox Something Historic (or at Least Iconic)

Rent a car. Or better — borrow one from someone who owes you. Drive somewhere beautiful, roll the windows up, and hotbox it until the car looks like it’s haunted. Bonus points if it’s near water or mountains. Double bonus if you brought snacks that actually slap.

3. Grow Something From Seed to Harvest

Even if it’s just one plant on your balcony. Name it after an ex. Talk to it when you’re high. Watch it go from nothing to something that gets you high. It’s weirdly healing.

4. Attend a Cannabis Festival (and Actually Enjoy It)

Not the ones that feel like a frat party with weed. The good ones. The ones with live music, good food, and people who actually know their terps. Get lost in the crowd. Make friends you’ll never see again. That’s the point.

5. Smoke on a Beach at Sunrise or Sunset

Doesn’t matter where. Just get high somewhere with an unobstructed view of the sky doing its thing. Watch the colors. Feel small in the best way. This one’s free and stupidly effective.

6. Share Your Stash With a Stranger Who Becomes a Friend

The best highs are the ones you pass around. Offer someone a hit when they look like they need it. You’ll be surprised how often it turns into a real conversation.

7. Create Your Own “Signature Session” Ritual

Maybe it’s the same playlist + the same strain + the same chair every Sunday. Maybe it’s a solo hike with a joint at the summit. Build something that’s yours. Something future you will miss when life gets loud.

8. Try a Strain From a Completely Different Part of the World

Landrace Thai. Colombian Gold. African sativas. Stuff that tastes like where it came from. Expand your palate like you would with wine or coffee. Your tolerance will thank you later.

9. Take a Proper T-Break… and Come Back Stronger

Yeah, it sucks for the first week. But the first session after a real break? Religious. You remember why you fell in love with this plant in the first place.

10. Tell Your Story

Whether it’s in the comments here, on your own platform, or just to your friends — share what cannabis has actually meant to you. The good, the bad, the ridiculous. We’re building something bigger than just getting high. We’re building a culture that’s honest.
