Atlantic City Boardwalk Cannabis Culture Guide: Showboat and the Shore

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Atlantic City has become a center of New Jersey's legal cannabis market and its event calendar. This page collects official figures, the shows at the Showboat and the rules for the Boardwalk.

Atlantic County by the numbers

The NJ Cannabis Regulatory Commission dispensary finder listed 29 adult-use dispensary locations in Atlantic County on Oct. 5, 2026, tied with Camden County for second in the state behind Hudson County's 35. Seventeen of the Atlantic County locations were in Atlantic City itself, more than any other New Jersey city except Jersey City. More figures are on our NJ Cannabis Data Hub.

The Boardwalk rules

New Jersey law bars smoking or vaping cannabis in public places, and the Boardwalk is public. Casinos and hotels set their own policies. Keep purchases sealed until you are somewhere private, and never drive impaired. License lists and rules come from the CRC reports.

What to wear on the Boardwalk in the fall

The wind off the ocean makes October nights feel colder than inland. Pack a hoodie even on a warm afternoon. Bundle Up is any two hoodies for $100. More Boardwalk coverage: our first Showboat packing list.
